Kokosing Industrial provided fast-track general contracting services for a new, six-unit compressor station in southern Ohio.  Kokosing self performed the foundations, while our affiliate seamlessly fabricated and supplied the mechanical pipe and fabricated various process skids. In addition, Kokosing concurrently provided general contracting services for four, new natural gas processing plants.

WHY IT MATTERS

One of the most important components of the natural gas transport system is the compressor station.  The stations are the kind of midstream facilities needed to compress gas and allow it to continue moving to its desired destination. Kokosing Industrial has the people, fabrication and equipment resources to build compressor stations as an EPC or as your general contractor.

Kokosing completed commissioning of a 200 mmscfd cryogenic natural gas processing plant addition within an operating facility.  Our seamless style of working jointly with our affiliate group of companies, allowed Kokosing to self perform the plant’s concrete foundations, structural steel erection, process piping, electrical, instrumentation and controls and process equipment installation construction. Challenges included an extremely compressed work schedule, due to client commitments to supply gas to market; a restricted work area due to the site being located in a remote narrow valley with limited access into the site via a jump bridge we designed and installed; and extremely limited on-site equipment and material laydown.  Along with the construction, our in-house Central Engineering Group provided logistics expediting, BIM, clash detection, and design of various components that supplemented the project team keeping complete control of the project and resources, leading to on-time delivery of the critical plant addition.

WHY IT MATTERS

The Utica and Marcellus shale regions contain some of the most productive and economic acreage in the United States.  Producers continue to capitalize on this by building gas processing facilities in the same region where the productive drilling and gas gathering is occurring.  In the past 2 years, Kokosing has commissioned 1,000 mmscfd natural gas cryogenic processing facilities on-time in the Utica and Marcellus.

While our affiliate Integrity Kokosing Pipeline Services installed 20 miles of pipeline, Kokosing Industrial completed construction of an intake facility and Booster Station on the Ohio River for our gas client. Kokosing was in charge of the design and construction of the pre-engineered metal buildings at the Annie Booster Station as well as the temporary shoring structure needed to install lines that ran from the wet well to the new screen. The facilities pump is capable of overcoming elevation differences of 700 feet! Despite the highest-recorded rainfalls on record in the State of West Virginia, Kokosing worked diligently and completed the project on-time in five months.

WHY IT MATTERS

Kokosing is a regional contractor.  We understand and can navigate through the permitting and regulation requirements of the local governing entities, as well as the US Army Corps of Engineers.  And we also support the project team with design needs.  Our Central Engineering Group is an asset to the project team and client in keeping tight schedules in-check by controlling critical path project items, like design and permitting in-house. With a capacity to withdraw up to 3,500 gallons per minute from the Ohio River, the overall project will minimize truck transportation of water to our clients wellpad’s and is estimated to cut their water cost by two-thirds.

Fast-Track Delivery of Natural Gas Processing Plants

Our midstream client responded to the regional demand for gas processing by engaging Kokosing Industrial to provide fast-track construction services for four natural gas processing plants. Kokosing leveraged its depth of experience in a variety of delivery methods from construction management to design-build to traditional bidding. A majority of the work was completed while the plants were in operation, making planning of every pick critical to the safety of the employees and the ongoing operation of the plant. Kokosing provided logistics management for the transportation and expediting of equipment, vessels and prefabricated modules, provided design and construction administration services of the compressor buildings and assisted the Owner with commissioning of the plants. The four, 200 million standard cubic feet per day plants were constructed and commissioned on time, in less than a two-year timeframe.

The start of Kokosing’s success – as one of today’s recognized leaders in cryogenic processing plant construction in the Utica and Marcellus shale region – came by working in partnership on consecutive projects for a few years with this midstream client. Along with the plant construction, Kokosing has been constructing and fabricating compressor stations, various site preparation contracts, barge and truck load-out facilities, gas storage facilities and numerous projects associated with the build out of the natural gas network in the region.
