Connecting Water Resources
New intake and booster facility on Ohio River supports shale growth activities in Eastern Ohio.
INSIDE THE PROJECT
Kokosing self-performed the general contracting services for this intake structure with two vertical turbine pumps and a booster station, located in Ohio on the Ohio River. The new facility has the capacity to draw 10 million gallons per day from the River. The main pump station contains two horizontal pumps, interconnecting piping, instrumentation and electrical service. Work also included installation of electrical services at two remote impoundments including Level Control Systems and Remote IO/HMIs.
WHY IT MATTERS
The new facility draws water out of the Ohio River and discharges to a pipeline that carries it to our gas clients impoundments and well pads in the Belmont County, Ohio area. The water is utilized to actively develop the Utica Shale region. Kokosing began the project in the middle of a harsh winter and completed construction in six, short months.
